Gallery Group Update in response to COVID-19

Gallery Group continues to operate within the guidelines set by the Federal Government In response to the rapidly changing events regarding the effect of COVID-19 across Australia. Mr Scott Morrison, PM, issued an update on the 18th March 2020 defining what services are deemed essential and permitted to continue operating. More specifically Gallery Group would like to assure all partners, customers and relevant stakeholders that the health and wellbeing of our community and how we best protect their livelihoods is our highest priority. RBA still thinks policy is right, hold rates at May meeting

How things can change in a month or two. At the last RBA meeting in March, there was so much optimism on inflation, you’d be hard pressed to find an expert or economist that was forecasting anything but an interest rate toward the end of this year. The data was so strong in fact that there were calls for the RBA to cut the interest rate as early as June.

The RBA doesn't like making major calls when it comes to the outlook of the cash rate (at least not anymore), but a huge change in attitude at the March cash rate meeting suggests it may well be done with rate hikes following a third consecutive rate hold.

Finally, barring a seismic shift in data trends in the coming months, the RBA has finally finished their rate hike cycle.
